On late Tuesday night, one person died following an auto-pedestrian collision on a highway near Mount Vernon.

As per the initial information, the fatal hit-and-run crash took place on SR9 near Cooma Place. The early report showed that a vehicle hit one person for reasons that are yet to be known. The driver of the involved vehicle left the scene after hitting the pedestrian.

Authorities have not provided any description of the hit-and-run vehicle at this time. SR9 was completely shut down in both directions at milepost 47 as crews worked at the scene, but there is no detour in place. No other details are made available.
