On Tuesday, one person was killed following a two-vehicle accident in North Las Vegas.
As per the initial information, the fatal hit-and-run crash took place near Decatur Boulevard and Cheyenne Avenue just before 8 p.m. The preliminary investigation indicated that the driver of a Dodge pickup truck was traveling north on Decatur at a high rate of speed when it crashed into a Sedan crossing at Rancho Rea Pkwy. The male driver of the Sedan died of his injuries after the crash. Officers believe that he was in his 60s.
The driver of the truck was in his 30s and he fled the scene, but was later found and arrested. This driver was transported to a hospital with minimal injuries. He will be booked once he is released from the hospital and will face a DUI resulting in death charge among others. Decatur was shut down to traffic from Gowan to Cheyenne as crews worked at the scene. Drivers were advised to avoid the area. No further details were provided.
An investigation is ongoing.
