On Thursday morning, U.S. 93 north of Wickenburg was shut down after a two-vehicle accident.
As per the initial information, the fatal head-on crash was first reported just after 4:30 a.m. The highway is blocked in both directions at milepost 172, which is just north of Congress. It was reported that a burned-up vehicle ended up on the side of the highway following the collision.
The front end was completely wrecked due to the impact. A pickup truck also involved in the crash was being loaded onto a flatbed tow truck. One person was declared deceased at the scene. It is unclear if anyone else was injured in the accident.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear at this time. The emergency crews are working to clear the scene. It is unknown when the highway will open again to traffic.
An investigation is underway.
