1 person dead after a fiery crash on I-85 in College Park (College Park, GA)

One person was killed following a fiery crash Friday on Interstate 85 in College Park.

As per the initial information, the fatal single-vehicle accident took place just after 2 a.m. Friday in the northbound lanes of I-85 near Old National Highway. Emergency crews actively responded to the scene and, on arrival, found the vehicle engulfed in flames in the trees on the side of the road.

The early reports showed that the vehicle left the west side of the ramp to Riverdale Road, crashed into a tree, and caught fire. The body of the driver was found inside the burning vehicle. At this time, it is unknown what caused the driver to veer off the road. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified. No other details are available.

The incident remains under review.
