One person was killed after a dump truck went over the side of an overpass on the 183A toll road Wednesday afternoon in Cedar Park.
As per the initial information, the fatal wreck took place on the 183A overpass near Brushy Creek Road. Crews actively responded to the scene and, on arrival, found the truck on fire under the overpass. The driver was declared dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation reports showed that the dump truck driver struck a semi-truck on 183A before veering off the overpass. Dark smoke was rising from the crash site, which was reported near Brushy Creek Road. The incident had shut down the southbound lanes of the highway. On Wednesday night, only the left lane remained blocked.
The center and right lanes were reopened. Authorities blocked the on-ramp to southbound 183A at Whitestone. They also closed traffic going eastbound at Cougar Avenue and Brushy Creek Road. No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
