1 person dead after a car vs. semi-truck collision on I-15 (San Diego, CA)

On Thursday, one person died following a rear-end crash on I-15.

As per the initial information, the fatal car accident took place shortly before 2:30 a.m. on the northbound side of I-15, close to the Pomerado Road exit in Rancho Bernardo. The preliminary investigation indicated that an SUV engulfed into flames after rear-ending a semi-truck on Interstate 15.

According to the officials, the driver of the Ralphs semi-truck tried to extinguish the fire, but he failed. On arrival, firefighters managed to put out the fire, but the SUV’s driver was declared dead at the scene. The semi-truck driver remained uninjured. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified. No other information has been released.

An investigation is ongoing.
