On Wednesday, a woman lost her life following a two-vehicle collision in east Phoenix.
As per the initial information, the fatal bicycle crash took place on Loop 202 in east Phoenix at about 1:30 a.m. The early reports showed that a woman was riding her bicycle on the freeway between 40th and 32nd Street when she was struck by a car. The rider succumbed to her injuries after the accident.
The identity of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. Officials shut down the westbound lanes of Loop 202 as crews worked at the scene. The freeway was blocked for several hours but has since reopened. No other details are made available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
