On Tuesday, one person died while three others suffered injuries following a traffic collision in Spanaway.
As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle crash took place in the 500 block of 176th Street East at 9:03 a.m. The preliminary reports revealed that a green truck hit the back of a white truck at a high rate of speed. After that, the white truck slammed into a utility pole and a fence.
The green truck then went off the south side of the road and ended up against a Bethel School District building. No one inside the building received any injuries as a result of the collision. The driver of the green truck was rushed to the hospital with non-fatal injuries. The passenger succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
The two people in the white truck sustained non-life-threatening injuries. 176th Street East was shut down between B Street East and Sixth Avenue east as crews worked at the scene. That stretch of road remained blocked as of 12:21 p.m. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
