1 person dead, 2 others hospitalized following a head-on crash north of Santa Clarita (Santa Clarita, CA)

One person died and two others received injuries following a head-on collision Sunday night in the rural community of Green Valley north of the Santa Clarita Valley.

As per the initial information, the officers actively responded to the area near San Francisquito Canyon Road and Fire Camp after getting reports of a car crash at around 8:30 p.m. Sunday. The early reports showed that the driver of a 2015 Toyota Prius was driving in the northbound lane on San Francisquito approaching the driver of the 2014 Honda CRV heading in the southbound lane, just north of the intersection.

The reports further revealed that the driver of the Toyota allowed the Toyota to veer left into the (southbound) lane where it hit the front-end of the Honda. The driver of the Honda, a Moorpark resident in his 60s, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The passenger of the Honda, a 74-year-old Moorpark resident, was flown to a nearby hospital with major injuries, and the driver of the Toyota, a 54-year-old resident of Lancaster, was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries. No other information is available.

The incident remains under review.
