One person died and two others received injuries following a rollover crash Monday on North Side.
As per the initial information, the fatal traffic collision took place just before 1:45 a.m. on West Woodlawn Avenue and Aganier Avenue, near Blanco Road. Moments before the wreck, the 20-year-old driver of the Chevrolet S-10 was “driving recklessly” and doing doughnuts at the intersection of the Interstate 10 access road and Woodlawn.
The driver then continued traveling on Woodlawn, passed a vehicle at a high rate of speed, and lost control. The truck then struck an embankment in the front yard of the home and flipped over several times. One of the passengers, 20, was declared dead at the scene.
The driver and another passenger, 31, were rushed to University Hospital with critical injuries. The driver, who has not been identified, was charged with manslaughter and aggravated assault. He was booked by proxy as he is currently in the hospital. No further details are available.
The crash remains under investigation.
