The Petaluma Police Department reported a motor vehicle accident on Sunday.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Ely Boulevard South and Casa Grande Road around 5:20 a.m.
According to the authorities, a gray sedan had collided with a redwood tree at the intersection’s roundabout.
The officials reported that the vehicle had received a significant amount of damage.
There was a female passenger who was left at the scene by the driver, The driver fled on foot.
The passenger was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and is reported not to have any serious injuries.
The driver was identified as 48-year-old Daniel Bagley.
Bagley was found later with injuries, and showed igns of being intoxicated.
He was evaluated in a local hospital before being booked into the Sonoma County Jail.
He was booked for driving under the influence.
