1 man injured after crashing his dirt-bike into a cornfield in Ottawa County (Ottawa County, MI)

On early Sunday morning, a dirt-bike rider suffered injuries after crashing his vehicle into a cornfield in Ottawa County.

Officials reported that a 48-year-old man was traveling northbound on 8th Avenue on his dirt-bike shortly before 2:00 a.m. He failed to yield at a stop sign at 8th Avenue & Wilson Street, as a result of which his bike struck a street sign and crashed into a cornfield. On arrival, medics rushed the man to the hospital with non-critical injuries.

The driver was reportedly wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. Officers said that the dirt-bike was not street legal or equipped with proper safety equipment. Authorities stated that alcohol does not seem to be involved in the accident. Police confirmed a citation to the drive for a number of violations.

An investigation is underway.
