On Monday, a two-vehicle crash in Burleson County claimed the life of one person and injured another.
As per the initial information, the fatal incident took place on State Highway 21 and FM 50 in which an SUV and a semi-truck were involved. The preliminary investigation showed that the semi-truck attempted to cross SH 21 at about 12:20 p.m. and did not yield the right of way to the Jeep. The SUV went partially under the trailer due to the impact.
The driver of the Jeep was declared deceased at the scene. The reports further stated that the driver was a Caldwell resident. The passenger was airlifted through a medical helicopter to a Bryan hospital with serious injuries. Officials confirmed a citation to the driver of the semi-truck for failure to yield the right of way at a stop sign. He remained unharmed in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
