On Saturday afternoon, a 62-year-old woman form Los Angeles, lost her life following a head-on crash on the Pacific Coast Highway in Ventura County.
According to CHP, the woman was driving a 2017 Honda HRV northbound on the PCH north of Deer Creek Road just before 1 p.m. Just then, a 2001 Jeep Wrangler heading southbound swerved into the opposite lane and crashed head-on into the oncoming Honda.
The driver of the Honda died of her injuries at the scene. It is unknown why the Jeep crossed the double yellow center lines, officials said. The two passengers of the Honda, a 90-year-old woman from Santa Monica and a 65-year-old woman from Los Angeles, were rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Paramedics also transported the 39-year-old driver of the Jeep and their 34-year-old passenger, both from Oxnard, to a nearby hospital. The passenger’s injuries were described as serious while the driver’s injuries were moderate. No arrests have been made at this time.
An investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing.
