1 dead, 4 injured after a fiery crash on I-240 (Memphis, TN)

One person died while four others suffered injuries following a fiery crash on I-240 in Memphis.

As per the initial information, the multi-vehicle accident was reported at about 1:14 a.m. on I-240 near Poplar Avenue. The early reports showed that multiple vehicles were involved in the wreck and one of them caught fire. One person was declared dead at the scene. One person was rushed to Regional One with critical injuries.

Three people were transported to Baptist East with non-critical injuries. Reports showed that there was a major backup on the interstate at about 1 a.m. All eastbound lanes in the area were shut down as crews worked at the scene. No other details are made available.

An investigation is ongoing.
