Officials identified 43-year-old Tony Boswell who died after being hit by a vehicle (Cherokee County, TX)

Authorities identified 43-year-old Tony Boswell, of Bullard, as the man who lost his life after being struck by a Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Deputy’s vehicle Sunday night.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian accident took place in the 3000 block of Farm to Market Road 346 at 11:57 p.m. Sunday. Tony Boswell was walking on the edge of the road when he got hit by the deputy’s vehicle as they were heading southbound.

The deputy informed EMS and started performing live-saving measures as responders were sent to the scene. Boswell was taken to the emergency room at UT Health – Tyler where he was declared dead. The deputy has been placed on administrative leave as an internal investigation is completed. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
