Officials identified 22-year-old Dezarae Medina who died after a wrong-way accident in Maryvale (Phoenix, AZ)

Authorities identified 22-year-old Dezarae Medina as the woman who succumbed to her injuries at a hospital following a two-vehicle crash that happened on Tuesday near 51st Avenue and Clarendon.

The investigation reports showed that a Toyota Matrix that was traveling south down the northbound lanes of 51st Avenue collided with a Dodge truck at about 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 21. When emergency responders arrived at the scene, the Toyota had caught fire and a woman was pinned inside.

Firefighters, police officers and bystanders all worked together to extinguish the flames and took her out of the car. The woman, identified as 22-year-old Dezarae Medina, died from her injuries at the hospital.  Her city of residence is not known at this time. The truck driver was not injured, and they did not display any signs of impairment.

An investigation continues.
