A man died after he was struck by a vehicle Sunday while selling flowers on a roadway median in Houston.
As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian accident took place at about 6 p.m. on Airline Drive and W. Gulf Bank Road. The preliminary reports showed that a car collided with another vehicle and went over the middle median where it hit the man who was standing there. Due to the impact, the man was thrown onto the hood of another vehicle a several feet away.
The victim was immediately taken to the hospital, but he later succumbed to his injuries. The suspect attempted to drive away from crash scene, but his car stopped running. He then tried to run away, but was caught and apprehended by an off-duty Houston Police officer, who was working security at a nearby flea market. The suspect will be charged with Failure to Stop and Render Aid. No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
