On early Wednesday morning, two people were injured in a single-vehicle crash on Ashlan Avenue near Highland Avenue.
As per the initial information, the incident took place on Ashlan Avenue between Leonard and Highland avenues at about 1:00 a.m. Preliminary investigation showed that a Toyota Camry missed property marked signage and temporary fencing warning of the hazard ahead following which it went down a construction trench approximately 15 to 20 feet deep.
On arrival, emergency crews managed to find the victims after dispatchers used GPS technology to pinpoint the distressed call. Officials confirmed that the driver and a passenger of the Camry sustained moderate injuries as a result of the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
