On Thursday morning, a 47-year-old woman and a 69-year-old man lost their lives following a fiery head-on collision on West Main Street.
As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle crash took place on September 23 along West Main Street, east of Jennings Road at around 4:50 a.m. The preliminary reports showed that a 47-year-old Turlock woman was driving west in a Nissan sedan when it veered to the oncoming lane for unknown reasons and crashed into a Ford pickup head-on. The reports further revealed that the pickup had become fully engulfed following the collision.
At this time, it is unknown what caused the Nissan to drift. The driver of the pickup was identified as a 69-year-old man from Patterson. Authorities declared both drivers deceased on the scene. Their identities will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. It is unclear if drugs and alcohol were factors in the accident.
The incident remains under investigation.
