On Wednesday afternoon, two people suffered injuries following a three-vehicle pile-up on Interstate 10 and Estrella Parkway.

As per the Department of Public Safety, the multi-vehicle accident occurred on Interstate 10 at Estrella Parkway at about 3:30 p.m. Reports indicated that a car and a tractor-trailer sideswiped each other. The impact of the crash caused the tractor-trailer to lose control and swerve towards the center median following which the trailer rolled over and spilled sand into the westbound lanes of traffic.

Following the first collision, a third vehicle crashed into the trailer in the westbound lanes of the freeway. On arrival, medics rushed two people to a hospital in serious condition. The wreck led to the closure of all eastbound lanes of I-10 and blocked multiple westbound lanes for a few hours. All lanes have long since opened again for traffic.

The wreck remains under investigation.
