A crash involving an 18-wheeler left a driver pinned inside their vehicle near San Angelo.

Emergency crews immediately responded to the crash scene to free the driver of an 18-wheeler belly dump truck from the cab when the rig rolled over while turning onto US-277 from FM-2105 northeast of San Angelo. The rig spilled its load onto the highway as a result of the crash. It took almost an hour for the firefighters and first responders to remove the driver who was pinned in the cab. As per reports, the driver incurred eye and leg injuries.

First responders from the San Angelo Fire Department joined Quail Valley volunteer firefighters, Tom Green County Sheriff’s Deputies and Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers responded to the scene. TxDOT and Reece Albert crews also responded to the scene for the cleanup. Traffic was backed up on US-277 all the way to US-67 while responders cleared the crash site.

The incident remains under active review.
