On Wednesday, a 40-year-old man lost his life following a fatal bicycle vs truck crash on South Michigan Street.
Officers actively responded to the crash scene at around 5 p.m. at Corson Avenue South intersection. On arrival, they found the man deceased at the scene. Furthermore, reports showed that a U.S. Postal Service truck stopped at the intersection facing northbound waiting to make a right turn eastbound.
When the driver was waiting for the light, a bicyclist going north went in front of the semi-truck, out of the driver’s sight. Sadly, the semi-truck hit and killed the bicyclist when it moved forward. Additionally, officers said the driver did not show any signs of impairment.
The crash remains under review.
