January 22, 2024 – Nationwide Report®

Ashley Nicole Ray, a 33-year-old homeless woman, lost her life around 11:30 p.m. in a motor vehicle accident, while reportedly attempting to crawl under a train in Longview.

According to a Longview Police Department report obtained through a public information request, a witness informed responding officers that Ray had made the ill-fated attempt near the dead end of the 200 block of North Second Street. The area, known for a dirt path used by homeless individuals, is about 2,100 feet west of the Union Pacific Railyard on Whaley Street.

Multiple train tracks, switchtracks, and warning signs indicating remote-controlled locomotives were present in the vicinity. The report states no foul play is suspected, and an autopsy was scheduled to determine the circumstances of Ray’s tragic fatal crash.
