In a tragic incident, a pedestrian lost their life in a fatal hit-and-run accident on Thursday along Seawall Boulevard. The Galveston Police Department responded to the incident in the 2800 block of Seawall Blvd. at around 9:20 p.m.
According to the police, a Dodge pickup truck was westbound on Seawall Blvd. The vehicle struck a pedestrian crossing from the south side to the north. The driver fled the scene before police could arrive.
The injured pedestrian was rushed to The University of Texas Medical Branch trauma centre in critical condition. Unfortunately, they succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead. The identity of the victim is not yet known.
Following intensive efforts, authorities managed to locate and apprehend the driver, identified as 23-year-old Arianna Kopecky from Galveston. Kopecky now faces charges including a fatal crash involving death and driving while intoxicated.
