The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a motor vehicle accident in Edinburg on Friday night. The accident occurred on FM 1423, south of Anderson Road, at around 8 p.m.
According to the officials, a white Chevrolet Silverado was headed north on the highway when it hit a man. A second vehicle, a black GMC, driving behind the Silverado also ran over the pedestrian.
The pedestrian was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The officials have since identified the victim to be 16-year-old Jacob Morales. The drivers of both vehicles remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
The fatal crash is still being investigated at this time. The officials reported that the victim wearing dark clothing and the road not being well-lit could have played a role in the collision.
