The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle accident on Thursday afternoon. The accident occurred on Interstate 10 near Desert Hot Springs at around 11:20 a.m.
According to the officials, a single motorcycle was involved in the collision. A green Harley-Davidson was hauling a small trailer when the driver made an unsafe turn. This caused the vehicle to lose control and overturn into the centre divider.
Both occupants on the motorcycle were thrown off and were majorly injured. They were taken to a hospital where one of them succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead. The officials have identified the victim as 68-year-old Cheryl McCoy.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. The officials have confirmed that alcohol and drugs did not play a role in the collision.
