The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle crash on Tuesday evening. The accident happened on Highway 1 at around 6:40 p.m.

According to Officer Art Montiel, the collision between who was operating a Subaru SUV, and who was driving a Tesla, happened at Bean Hollow Road. One of the vehicles crossed the double-yellow line as the drivers moved in the same direction.

According to Montiel, both drivers lost control and fell off the cliff and into the water. The Subaru was partially submerged and the Tesla was completely submerged. 

Two drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. They were identified as Patricio Cabrera Jr., 29, of San Francisco, and James Allan Willis, 66, of Davenport. 

In addition, Willis’s 60-year-old wife suffered severe injuries and was flown to Stanford Hospital for care. The fatal crash is being investigated by the officials.
