Authorities responded to a four-vehicle crash that injured four people, including a child. The crash happened on Interstate 49 at Southern Loop in Caddo Parish on Sunday.    

The cause of the crash is determined to be careless and reckless driving. 

According to the Caddo Sheriff’s Office, a female was driving a red Buick Verano with a 3-year-old passenger on the wrong way on northbound I-49 when it collided head-on with a black Kia Forte. 

The Buick was struck by a northbound Honda Accord, causing the Buick to flip several times before landing off the roadway. A Toyota Camry crashed into the Honda. 

The Buick driver, and the 3-year-old passenger were not restrained during the crash and were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The child was extricated from the Buick’s trunk. 

The Kia and the Honda driver were taken to the hospital. The Toyota driver and the passenger were treated at the scene.

The crash is under investigation.
