The Police Department reported a motor vehicle accident on Wednesday afternoon.
On US-31 near Manvel Road, troopers from the Michigan State Police Gaylord Post responded to an accident involving two cars at around 2:27 p.m.
The troopers said that a 50-year-old man from Petoskey was driving a 2012 Audi northbound in the left turn lane when Harold Reynolds, 77, of Alton, was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Impala southbound and crossed into the left turn lane.
The Audi driver could not move his car in time to avoid colliding with the Impala, and they collided head-on.
According to the MSP, Reynolds died at the scene. The Petoskey man was transported to the nearest hospital with non-critical injuries.
The fatal crash is being investigated by the Officials.
No additional information regarding the crash is currently available.
