According to the Louisiana State Police, a fatal crash was reported on Tuesday in St.Martin Parish.

Authorities confirmed that 1 woman died due to the pedestrian accident.

Officials stated that the collision occurred in the middle eastbound lane of  I-10 west of Breaux Bridge.

The deceased woman was identified as 20-year-old Ryelee A. Georgeson.

A 2019 Ram driven by 26-year-old Ben Latiolias hit the pedestrian, and then came to a stop on the inside shoulder.

Georgeson was taken to the hospital in a critical condition, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Ben Latiolias was not injured in the accident.

Alcohol and drugs are being suspected as factors that led to the crash.

The crash is still under investigation by the LSP.
