According to the California Highway Patrol, a multi-vehicle accident occurred in Buttonwillow on Wednesday. 

The crash happened in the westbound lanes of Highway 46 and Gun Club Road at around 5:47 a.m. 

The officials stated that two semi-trucks were involved in a head-on crash injuring a passenger. 

The passenger suffered major injuries and was airlifted to a local hospital following the collision. 

According to the Police, the identity of the injured passenger was not revealed. 

The officials are investigating whether drugs, alcohol, distracted driving, or speed played a factor in the crash. 

Some portions of the Westbound lanes of Highway 46 are blocked for further investigation.

No additional information regarding the crash was provided by the Deputies.
