According to the California Highway Patrol, a multi-vehicle accident occurred in Sacramento on Sunday.
The crash happened on Interstate 80 in Davis at around 3:10 a.m involving an Infiniti sedan and a Hyundai sedan.
The officials stated that a wrong-way driver collided head-on with another car killing 3 people.
The driver of the Infiniti sedan was traveling east when it crashed into a Hyundai sedan west of Richards Boulevard.
Both the drivers of the vehicle and a passenger in the Infiniti were pronounced dead at the scene. Two others suffered major injuries.
The investigators investigated and found whether drugs and alcohol played a factor in the crash.
No additional information regarding the fatal crash was provided by the Deputies.
