A 13-year-old boy lost his life and two others received injuries after a rollover crash Thursday in the Lancaster area.
As per the initial information, the fatal single-vehicle accident was reported at around 11:55 a.m. in the area of state Route 138 and 300th Street West. The preliminary reports showed that the vehicle, a gray Ford F-250 occupied by a driver and two children, drifted off the roadway into the dirt, crashed in the area and flipped over several times before ending up on its top. Due to the impact, both the juvenile passengers were thrown from the vehicle.
The 13-year-old boy lost consciousness before responders arrived and a bystander started performing CPR on the child. The boy was declared dead at the scene. The driver, a 41-year-old man, and the 11-year-old boy who was the second passenger in the pickup also sustained moderate to major injuries in the wreck and were flown to a hospital.
The incident prompted authorities to block the eastbound lanes of SR-138 for an unknown duration. No arrests were made in the immediate aftermath of the crash. No other details are available.
