Authorities identified 50-year-old Sallie June Hill, of Palmdale, as the woman who lost her life after a crash Friday in Canyon Country.
The fatal traffic collision took place on Soledad Canyon Road near Shangri-La Drive. Authorities responded to the scene at about 5:35 p.m. Friday. The early reports showed that the woman experienced a medical emergency and crashed with four other vehicles before slamming into the bus stop.
According to eyewitnesses, a Ford Explorer jumped the center divider, crossed westbound lanes of traffic, and came to a stop on the shoulder next to a bus stop at the scene. On arrival, emergency responders performed chest compressions on Hill.
Hill died of her injuries at the scene. As of Monday morning, traffic investigators are waiting for the autopsy to be completed to confirm whether she died due to the Canyon Country crash or the medical emergency.
Due to the wreck, a fire hydrant was sheared near the scene of the incident, sending water shooting several feet into the air and partially blocking the right lane of eastbound Soledad Canyon Road. No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
