Two people, including a child were injured after a suspected DUI crash Friday in Fresno.

As per the initial information, the traffic collision took place on Highway 180 just east of Chestnut Avenue. The preliminary reports showed that 30-year-old Jalessa Johnson, from Lancaster, was driving at a high rate of speed at around 4:50 a.m. on Highway 180 while heading east before the crash.

Because she was intoxicated, she failed to stop her 2006 Chrysler 300 when the 2002 Toyota Tacoma in front of her slowed. The Chrysler rear-ended the Toyota and several more crashes happened as the vehicles blocked the roadway. Johnson and a 2-year-old in her car received major injuries and were rushed to Community Regional Medical Center.

The girl was in a car seat, but it was not fitted properly. A 34-year-old Fresno man riding in the Chrysler was also transported to the hospital with moderate injuries. The two Sanger women in the Toyota, one 70 and the other 78, did not sustain injuries. Johnson was detained on suspicion of DUI. No further details are available.

The incident remains under review.
