On Friday, northbound Interstate 5 in Seattle was blocked after a cement truck flipped over and spilled a portion of its load.
As per the initial information, the single-vehicle crash took place at 8:19 a.m. on I-5 just north of SR 520 near the East Roanoke Street overpass. The early reports showed that a cement truck rolled over resulting in huge backups for approximately 2 hours. Luckily, no one suffered injuries as a result of the accident.
The westbound SR 520 off-ramp to northbound I-5 was also shut down. At 10:30 a.m., traffic was backed up 6 miles to South Seattle. Crews switched the Interstate 5 express lanes to northbound early to help dissipate traffic. All lanes were back open at around 11:10 a.m. At times, traffic was getting by in the left lane. No other details are made available.
An investigation is ongoing.
