On Sunday night, a 59-year-old man suffered serious injuries after his car smashed head-on into a median wall in Marietta.

As per the initial information, the single-vehicle crash took place at about 7:32 p.m. on Interstate 75 southbound.  The preliminary investigation indicated that the man was driving a Nissan Sentra when it left the lane near the Allgood Road overpass and slammed into the median wall on the west side of the roadway.

After that, the car went over all lanes and struck the center median wall head-on. On arrival, medical personnel rushed the driver to Kennestone Hospital with life-threatening injuries. No other details are made available.

The crash remains under investigation.
