Authorities identified 24-year-old Darius Johnson, 33-year-old Casey Mejia, and 18-year-old E’qwan McCrea, of Kingstree, as the victims who suffered injuries following a multi-vehicle wreck on late Tuesday night in Marietta.
The four-vehicle pile-up took place on Interstate 75 Northbound at the Allgood Road overpass. According to the investigation reports, E’qwan McCrea, 18 was driving a Chrysler 300 when he slowed down and finally stopped in a lane after striking an object in the road.
At some point of time, the Chevrolet Malibu, driven by 24-year-old Darius Johnson, rear-ended a GMC Sierra, driven by 59-year-old Fidencio Palacios. Palacios’ vehicle then slammed into McCrea and a VW Jetta, driven by Casey Mejia. All drivers were heading north in the left straight lane at the time of the collision.
On arrival, emergency personnel rushed Darius Johnson to Kennestone Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Both Casey Mejia and E’qwan McCrea were transported to the hospital for injury complaints. No other details are made available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
