A 57-year-old man, from Santa Ana, lost his life following a two-vehicle wreck in Long Beach while officers arrested 25-year-old Bryan Tostado, of Norwalk, in connection with the accident.
As per the initial information, the fatal semi-truck crash took place at around 1:10 a.m. on the eastbound 91 freeway, west of Susana Road. The early reports showed that Bryan Tostado was travelling at a high rate of speed in a 2004 Toyota in the number one lane when his vehicle crashed into the center divider and hit a 2022 Freightliner from behind.
The driver of the big rig, only identified as a 57-year-old man, failed to maintain control of his vehicle and the semi went off the roadway. The victim suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials at 1:38 a.m.
Emergency responders transported Bryan Tostado to Dignity Health-St. Mary Medical Center with minimal injuries. He was later arrested, but the potential charges he was booked for remain unclear. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
