Authorities identified 28-year-old Iliana Ayala and 25-year-old Edna Grinaldo as the victims who were hurt following a single-vehicle accident that also killed a 5-year-old girl while causing injuries to a 7-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy on Saturday near Henderson.
The fatal car crash took place at about 7:45 p.m. on SH-64, around one mile west of Henderson in Rusk County. According to the investigation reports, a 2013 Nissan Rogue was heading east on SH 64 when it swerved off the roadway on the south side for undetermined reasons.
After that, the vehicle went in the grass south of the roadway and struck a shallow creek with its front end, causing the vehicle to roll over. Due to the impact, three children were ejected from the car. A 5-year-old girl from Henderson succumbed to her injuries after the wreck.
A 7-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy were both rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver, Iliana Ayala, of Henderson, and the passenger Edna Grinaldo, of Tyler, were transported to the hospital and they were listed in stable condition. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation is continuing.
