Authorities identified 69-year-old Patricia Marie Del Costello as the woman who died of her injuries several days after getting struck by a vehicle on May 2 in Tucson.
The fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place took place on North Swan Road and East Broadway Boulevard. Patricia Marie Del Costello was hit by shortly after noon on May 2 while crossing North Swan Road in a crosswalk at East Broadway Boulevard.
On arrival, first responders rushed Del Costello to Banner University Medical Center with critical injuries. The driver of the pickup, only identified as a man in his 80s, immediately pulled over and cooperated with the investigators.
Officials confirmed that the driver was not impaired at the time of the accident. The investigation reports showed that a pickup was turning left – from eastbound Broadway onto northbound Swan – on a protected green turn arrow.
On the other hand, Del Costello most probably crossed Swan – from west to east on the north side of the intersection – against the pedestrian signal. Potential charges against the driver will be presented to the Tucson City Court Prosecutor’s Office. On May 19, police were notified of her death. No other information is available.
An investigation is ongoing.
