Ten residents were temporarily displaced after a vehicle slammed into a building Wednesday in National City.
As per the initial information, the single-vehicle crash was reported at about 9 a.m. on Laurel Avenue south of Division Street. The female driver informed emergency responders that she crashed into the building when she had a leg cramp. A woman was inside the apartment that was struck by the car. She luckily remained unharmed in the accident.
The woman who lived in the apartment said that she was lying on the bed with her dog when the car smashed into the room. She further mentioned that she rolled off the bed and ran to the bathroom with the dog. No one was injured.
Eight of the displaced residents were expected to be allowed back into the building sometime Wednesday after it was shored up. The two people living in the apartment that was damaged by the car would need to stay somewhere else. The driver refused to be taken to the hospital for treatment. Damage from the crash was estimated at $60,000. No other information is available.
An investigation is ongoing.
