A man passing a downtown street was smashed by a car late Tuesday afternoon, and police reported that the victim seemed to have coped serious injuries.
The passenger car was moving towards west on Silver Street close to the intersection with Third Street at around 4 p.m. “At the same time, a pedestrian was on the crosswalk in the westbound lane of Silver Street,” told the Elko Police Department. They also added that the driver was unable to sight the pedestrian as he was hit with the front bumper at a speed of 25 mph.
The driver said to police that she could not see the pedestrian due to strong light coming from the setting sun.
