A 91-year-old Oakland man succumbed to injuries he sustained after being hit by a vehicle Friday morning in the Uptown neighborhood of his city.
As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian collision took place at 7 a.m. Friday on Telegraph Avenue and 20th Street. The early reports showed that a vehicle struck the elderly man as he was in a marked crosswalk. On arrival, medics rushed the man to a hospital.
He died of his injuries at around 11 p.m. Friday. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators. According to the authorities, the vehicle was heading north on Telegraph Avenue when it hit the man as the vehicle was turning west onto 20th Street. Officers believe that alcohol was not involved in the crash. No other details are available.
