Luis Garcia and another hospitalized after a single-car crash in Toppenish (Toppenish, WA)

Authorities identified Luis Garcia, from Yakima, as the victim who suffered injuries following a DUI crash in Toppenish that also injured another person.

As per the initial information, the single-vehicle accident took place on the Highway 97 and McDonald Road roundabout. The preliminary investigation showed that a Subaru Legacy was traveling south on SR 97, a mile north of Toppenish when the driver failed to slow down for the roundabout.

The car struck the center island and flipped over. On arrival, emergency responders transported two occupants of the vehicle to the hospital with unspecified injuries. According to the officials, the passenger is a Pasco resident, whose identity has not been revealed.

Authorities said that drugs and alcohol contributed to the accident and the driver, Luis Garcia will be charged for DUI. Area around Highway 97 and McDonald Road roundabout was shut down as crews worked at the scene. No other details are available.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
