A portion of Interstate 15 was closed down for hours after an Amazon semi-truck rolled on its side during an unexpected rain shower early Sunday in San Diego.
As per the initial information, the single-vehicle wreck took place at about midnight on northbound I-15 near Interstate 8 in the Kensington area. It is a troubled downhill stretch of freeway for truckers, especially during the rain. The big rig caused damage to part of a guard rail and came to a stop on its side, extending off the freeway.
An ambulance was sent for the driver, according to the authorities, but the condition of the driver remains unknown at this time. Hazmat crew also responded to the scene to deal with propane leak coming from the wrecked tractor-trailer. All northbound lanes near Adams Avenue were closed down during the cleanup. Authorities gradually reopening portions of the freeway as the morning went on. Traffic was back to normal by about 7 a.m. No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
