A 31-year-old North Carolina man lost his life following a two-vehicle accident Friday afternoon on Interstate 10.
As per the initial information, the fatal car crash took place took place at about 12:33 p.m. east of Beaumont Avenue. The early reports showed that the North Carolina man was driving a 2015 Kia on I-10’s number 4 lane.
For an undetermined reason, the driver failed to notice that traffic had stopped following which the Kia rear-ended a 2019 Freightliner semi-truck driven by a 56-year-old Desert Hot Springs man. The 31-year-old man from Burgaw, North Carolina was declared dead at the scene by the officials. He was a Navy service member.
The truck driver had injuries while the truck’s unidentified passenger remained unharmed in the accident. Officials reached out to Navy officials about the incident and advised them to reach out to the coroner’s office in Perris. Westbound I-10 was temporarily closed during the investigation. No other details are available.
