Motorcyclist in critical condition after a hit-and-run crash in Point Loma (San Diego, CA)

On Tuesday, a 31-year-old person suffered injuries following a motorcycle crash in Point Loma.

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Oliphant and Rosecrans streets at about 5:32 p.m. after getting reports of a hit-and-run accident. The preliminary investigation indicated that a 56-year-old man heading northbound on Rosecrans in a 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport took a left turn in front of the motorcycle that was southbound on a 2016 Suzuki DR-Z 400 SM. Just then, both the vehicles crashed into each other.

The driver of the Outlander left the scene and was followed by a witness, who informed the officers about the crash. Officers later detained the driver at Plum and Keats streets. The motorcycle rider had fractured ribs, a fractured left arm, a fractured left leg and other internal injuries. The injuries were considered life-threatening. No other details are made available.

The crash remains under active review.
