Officials identified 18-year old Gavin John Broekhuis, from Holland, as the man who lost his life following a traffic collision on Saturday in Overisel Township.
Officers actively responded to the area of 40th Street near 147th Avenue at 5:39 p.m. after getting reports of a single-vehicle crash. The early reports showed that Gavin John Broekhuis was traveling northbound in a pickup truck when he failed to maintain control of the vehicle due to the icy road conditions.
The truck then went off the roadway and hit a tree. The man, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was declared dead at the scene. Zeeland Twp Fire Dept, Overisel Twp Fire Dept, AMR provided assistance. No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
